3 challenges bloggers face, and how to overcome them
To run a truly successful blog, these are the top three challenges a blogger is likely to encounter.
- Growing your traffic:
Attracting traffic to your blog can be a major challenge for a blog owner. This is even more prevalent for new blog owners. Let’s say you write tons of great content every day, but you are not just getting that desired number of people to read whatever it is you have to say.
Writing posts without much engagement will give you the feeling that you are just talking to yourself, and are a major discouragement for new bloggers especially. It is always frustrating trying to attract visitors, and when you actually get some visitors, you want more of them.
New bloggers just create a blog without giving much consideration to how they can attract traffic to their blogs, and when they have finally created that blog, and published lots of great content, and the traffic just looks like it’s not coming in, they get frustrated, and lots of them just quit.
To overcome traffic challenges, I have employed the following strategies as a blogger.
Utilize social media: Social media can be a powerful tool in attracting traffic to your blog. If you can create a huge follower base on your social media pages, using engaging contents, and interesting posts, and highlighting the value your blog offers to them, then visitors can start engaging with your blog through your social media.
Write guest posts on other blogs: One of the best methods of attracting traffic to your new blog is by writing great guest posts on other blogs or websites. Lots of blogs and websites are always looking for quality contents, getting a blog for you to write guest posts on will not be a daunting task. The good thing about writing guest posts is the links you will get back to your site; the links will be embedded in the author’s profile. More recognition in your niche, and a chance to improve your content writing skills. You also get to connect with industry leaders in your niche. Guest posts are also great for SEO purposes, as search engine crawlers can index your blog when crawling other sites with more rank than yours.
Write better content: The best way to get traffic to your blog is by creating awesome content. When you create engaging contents and post them on your social media pages, it is very likely it will attract visitors to check your content out and if they find it very engaging it is likely they will refer your site to their friends. This will ultimately help you grow traffic on your site. This means you have to keep up and always publish great content always.
2. No defined niche or purpose:
Lots of people go into blogging not having a defined purpose, or clear idea of the niche they want to focus their blog on. Every blog should have a clearly defined purpose and niche. If your blog is a personal blog, you should make it clear, but if it is a business blog, then you should clearly define your niche and stick to it.
If you don’t think about this before starting your blog, you definitely will face a lot of challenges that might force you out of business.
If your blog doesn’t have a clear purpose and properly defined niche, it will be difficult to retain visitors, which is a major obstacle to the growth of your blog. I will tell you how to clearly define your blog’s purpose and niche.
Think about what you want to blog:
Before creating your blog, you should have a clearly defined purpose of what you are trying to achieve. Either you just want to share your opinions, thoughts and ideas, or you want to place yourself as an industry expert. Maybe you are trying to sell products, or make money through clickable ads. Whatever your aim, you need to define your intentions behind the creation of your blog and then work towards that purpose. Only then can you start scaling challenges, and achieving the success blogging offers.
3. Making money:
Although the possibility of making money from blogging is very high, only a small percentage of bloggers actually get their blogs to such profitable status. If your blog is not as profitable as you want it to be, there are solutions to achieving what you want from your blog.
Don’t expect to make money immediately:
Turning your blog into a profitable venture takes time. It is almost impossible to start making money immediately when you start your blog, but if you put in the work required, and give it sometime, then your blog will gradually become a profitable venture.
You should also create a strategically effective plan on how to make your blog profitable, don’t rely on one source of income for your blog (Diversify).
Focus on building a reputation with your blog, create value with your blog by solving problems your visitors face, then gradually you will see how your blog will transform into a profit magnet.
